To Beach Or Not To Beach?

Yesterday was my first visit to the beach this year (I'm not counting my first dive 2 weeks ago, wearing a neoprene suit is a bit cheating), thanks to my sister being home for the week (to celebrate her 30th bday!) with some friends from the UK and Canada. Can't come to Alicante for a week and not go to the beach!

Gorgeous day at the Playa de San Juan. Lots of sun, a light breeze, a flat Mediterranean. But the question is...

to get in?

or not get in?

'Cause that water was COOOOOOOLD!!!

Well, cold for the Mediterranean (probably around 18ºC so ~ 64ºF, which is 8-10º colder than in July-August!).

The answer:

BUT OF COURSE!!!

Running then diving in (wishing there were waves to make it easier) and then swimming to warm up. LOVELY!!!

Then today I took them to the Cabo de las Huertas (my usual watering hole) for a brief snorkelling lesson before they left Alicante:

Definitely a great way to start the summer! :o)

I might stop by your place with an answer, but I'm more likely to reply right here so click on "email follow up comments" if you'd like to see what I and others have to say and come continue the conversation! ;o)
